A static website

is a website that is coded in HTML5 and CSS3. It does not involve a connection to a database using a language such as PHP to serve its content. Websites that require a connection to a database in order to all up content are know as dynamic websites. WordPress uses a database and puts out dynamic content. When a static website is developed, the page content stays the same. Pages such as ‘About Us’, ‘Contact’, etc. do not change or require calls to a database to display content.

Are there any cons in having a static website?

Not at all! In fact, if you need a small website (1-3 pages), a static website will be much more cost effective. If your website is more or a ‘brochure’ style website, there is no need to have a dynamic website developed for your business. However, if your business needs a website that will have frequent updates such as blog posts, changes in a menu or other content specific to your business then you will definitely need a dynamic website.
